SAP and Lenovo: Accelerating the digital economy

Key trends driving the digital economy include hyper-connectivity, supercomputing, cloud computing, big data, mobility and cyber-security.

To address these key trends, Lenovo and SAP have announced multi-faceted plans that will strengthen their existing partnership. By combining SAP solutions with Lenovo enterprise data center offerings, we will provide customers with technology that can help them become agile digital enterprises. These plans include:

  • Creating innovations between SAP HANA and Lenovo systems to explore and define new technologies that address the needs of the digital economy.
  • Executing joint, global, go-to-market programs—inclusive of System Integrators and technology partners—to bring these new technologies to our customers around the world. This will include showcasing joint differentiated solutions in Lenovo Enterprise Innovation Centers in Stuttgart, Germany; Morrisville; North Carolina and the soon-to-be-opened center in Beijing, China.
  • Strengthening  execution between Lenovo and SAP, including development of innovative cloud solutions in China.

SAP Senior Vice President of Ecosystem and Alliances, Kevin Ichhpurani, discusses the Lenovo-SAP alliance in this video and how together, Lenovo and SAP are helping customers solve problems around the aforementioned digital economy trends. One example is the IOT-focused demonstration featured at Lenovo TechWorld, which incorporates SAP HANA. Look for more innovation examples like these going forward.

In addition, we are practicing what we preach and delivering joint, innovative solutions for our own operations. SAP’s application development environment, as well as their HANA Enterprise Cloud, runs on the Lenovo servers that support our business. SAP is also Lenovo’s preferred ERP provider, having deployed several enterprise solutions including SAP Business Suite. Lenovo leverages SAP HANA running on System x servers in a scale-out cluster configuration that is driving a 45X improvement in reporting performance and 50X improvement in data loading, enabling faster decision making.

These plans will focus on delivering next-generation technologies—deployed by two industry leaders widely recognized for mission-critical, trusted and reliable solutions—to businesses of all sizes that will help them become agile digital enterprises.
