UTS’ Need For Speed

Aerodynamic design takes UTS: Motorposts Electric the extra mile

Every year, university students across the world answer a detailed brief to design and build an open-wheeled formula race car for the Formula SAE (FSAE) competition. This year the UTS: Motorsports Electric team consisted of around 30 students from a variety of academic disciplines, including science, engineering and business – a perfect balance of academics and revheads, all dedicated to building the perfect race vehicle.

The students fully understand what it takes to reach the level to be in with a chance of winning. This year that meant advanced design capability and the ability to incorporate aerodynamics. That’s why UTS: Motorsports Electric partnered with Lenovo – to get the computing power required to design, test and redesign their model, to ensure the race car they built was at peak performance for the competition.

Watch our case study video to find out where they placed when the chequered flag finally fell.
